IMPACT 2009
Innovative Maritime Partnerships Advancing Cargo Transport September 30, 2009
CCDoTT’s IMPACT 2009 conference was held on September 30 at the DoubleTree Hotel in the Cabrillo Marina of the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, CA. This was a highly successful conference with an attendance of over 110 people.
CCDoTT Advisory Committee Chairman VADM Al Herberger (Ret.) was honored as the Keynote Speaker where he addressed the need for Maritime Research and Innovation. The Admiral’s depth of experience and personal involvement with so many current research organizations and projects was right on target with the presentations of the day, and he tied them to lengthy list of current maritime issues. We are thankful he agreed to share his exceptional experience and expertise with us.
The quality of the CCDoTT projects and the expertise of the research teams were well represented. Of particular interest this year was the new CCDoTT Innovation Cell Pilot Project with CSULB. A general presentation was given on the objectives of the program then each faculty member presented their project. The program was very well received by the audience who recognized the growing relationship between the University and CCDoTT, and the potential for local based research in areas of importance to West Coast stakeholders.
It was exciting and informative event with an audience of representatives from all the major ports in Southern California, engineers, business interests, government officials, labor, academia, and the press, reflecting the broad spectrum of our research efforts. Our sincere appreciation goes out to The Barton Group, all attendees, staff, and the DoubleTree Hotel who helped to make this event happen.
