CCDoTT
recently hosted a visit of the Industrial College of the Armed
Forces (ICAF) as part of their Transportation Industry Study, 2003.
The ICAF,
part of the National Defense University, is the premier DOD
joint education institution for national security resource
management and strategy. The students are specially selected by
their military services or government agency, and are comprised of
experienced operators, resource and technical managers, and industry
fellows. The faculty consists of both military and civilian experts
in the field.
The Industry Studies program of the ICAF
examines the resources component of National Security. Its goals
are to 1) develop a strategic perspective of the transportation
industry and its role in supporting the materiel requirements of
national defense in peacetime and emergency conditions and 2)
propose specific policy options to enhance industrial preparedness.
One of the main components of the
program is the annual Transportation Industry Study, where students
visit leading industry corporate headquarters, production
facilities, trade associations, logistics and distribution
facilities, and research facilities. This tour is vital for
understanding the ever-increasing role that transportation will play
in the design and structure of systems of national importance.
CCDoTT is proud to have been included in the
2003 Transportation Industry Study of the ICAF.
