CCDoTT’s IMPACT 2005 conference was held in Long Beach on board the RMS Queen Mary November 9-10, 2005. We were honored once again to have Lt. General Ken Wykle provide the keynote address “Highway Congestion? Think Water!” to an audience of over 120 attendees.
Joseph F. Prevratil of the RMS Foundation opened the program with a brief history of the ship. There were guests and presenters who had actually traveled across the Atlantic on her and were able to locate their original cabins. California State Senator Alan Lowenthal gave a resounding impromptu speech about his support of CCDoTT and especially Maglev technologies. Among his many quotable comments were “I have seen the future”, and “I am a believer”. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher’s staff were also on board.
It was exciting and informative event with an audience of representatives from all the major ports in Southern California, engineers, business interests, government officials, and the press, reflecting the broad spectrum of our research efforts.
Our thanks go out to The Barton Group, all attendees, staff, and the crew of the RMS Queen Mary who helped to make this event happen.
